Fasto A410 – High-Performance Form-In-Place Gasket for Rigid Metal Flanges

Fasto A410 is a single-component, thixotropic, low-to-medium strength anaerobic gasket compound designed as a form-in-place gasket (FIPG) for rigid metal flanges. It cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting flat metal surfaces, forming a durable, vibration-resistant, and leak-proof seal.

Fasto A410 is specially formulated to withstand higher service temperatures than standard anaerobic gasket products and provides an almost instant low-pressure seal, enabling early pressure testing of assemblies.

Key Features

  • Form-In-Place Gasket Technology
Eliminates pre-cut gaskets and reduces inventory.
  • Low–Medium Strength Sealing
    Enables controlled disassembly during maintenance.
  • Very High Viscosity, Thixotropic
Approx. 425,000 cPs (low shear) – prevents run-off on vertical flanges.
  • Instant Low-Pressure Seal
Seals up to 0.5 bar within ~20 minutes.
  • High Temperature Resistance
Continuous service from -50°C to +200°C.
  • Good Gap Filling Capability
    Effective up to 0.30 mm.
  • Excellent Chemical & Solvent Resistance
Resistant to motor oil, petrol, brake fluid, acetone, ethanol, propanol, and water.
  • Red-Orange Colour
    Easy visual inspection after application.

Benefits

  • Prevents oil, coolant, and fluid leakage
  • Withstands high operating temperatures
  • Reduces assembly time and gasket costs
  • Ensures uniform sealing pressure
  • Improves reliability of industrial and automotive assemblies

Surface Preparation

  • Ensure flange surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and contaminants.
  • Trials are recommended to confirm if additional cleaning is required.

Application Method

  1. Apply Fasto A410 evenly to all sealing surfaces.
  2. Assemble the flanges immediately to exclude air.
  3. Tighten bolts as per assembly specification.
  4. Allow curing under anaerobic (air-excluded) conditions.
  5. Wipe off excess material from outside the joint.

Curing Guidelines

  • Fixture time: 5–10 minutes
  • Functional cure: 2–3 hours
  • Full cure: 12 hours
  • Maximum recommended gap: 0.30 mm

Additional Notes

  • Cure speed depends on temperature, substrate, and bond gap.
  • At temperatures below 5°C or on inert metals, use Fasto AP49 Activator to accelerate cure (activator may reduce final strength by up to 30%).
  • Anaerobic products are not recommended for pure oxygen or chlorine systems.
  • Not recommended for certain plastics due to potential stress cracking.
