Fasto A767 – High Lubricity Pipe Thread Sealant for Large Diameter Pipes

Fasto A767 is a single-component, medium-to-low strength, PTFE-based anaerobic pipe sealant developed for locking and sealing straight and tapered metal pipe threads. It cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, forming a flexible, vibration-resistant, and leak-proof seal.

Its extremely high viscosity white paste formulation provides excellent lubricity, allowing easy assembly and disassembly of large-diameter pipe joints while still preventing vibration loosening and leakage.

Fasto A767 delivers an almost instant low-pressure seal and, once fully cured, seals up to the bursting pressure of the pipe (≈10,000 psi).

Key Features

  • PTFE-Based Anaerobic Technology
Combines sealing performance with high lubricity.
  • Medium–Low Strength – Serviceable Joints
    • Breakaway torque: 3.0 Nm
    • Prevailing torque: 1.75 Nm (M10 steel fasteners).
  • Extremely High Viscosity (~560,000 cPs)
Thixotropic paste prevents run-off and migration.
  • Instant Low-Pressure Sealing
Seals up to 2 bar in ~20 minutes.
  • High Final Pressure Resistance
Seals up to pipe bursting pressure (~10,000 psi).
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range
    -60°C to +150°C (continuous).
  • Excellent Chemical & Solvent Resistance
Resistant to motor oil, petrol, brake fluid, acetone, ethanol, propanol, and water.
  • White Colour
    Easy visual identification during application.

Benefits

Surface Preparation

  • Ensure parts are clean, dry, and free from grease or oil.
  • Trials are recommended to confirm if additional cleaning is required.

Application Method

  1. Apply Fasto A767 to all engaged threads.
To minimise excess sealant inside the joint, apply mainly to the male threads, leaving the first two threads clear.
  2. Assemble parts and tighten as required.
  3. Allow curing under anaerobic (air-excluded) conditions.
  4. Wipe off excess sealant from the outside of the joint.

Curing Guidelines

  • Fixture time: 20–25 minutes
  • Functional cure: 4–6 hours
  • Full cure: 12–14 hours
  • Maximum recommended gap: 0.50 mm
  • Maximum thread size: 36 mm

Additional Notes

  • Cure speed depends on temperature, bond gap, and substrate.
  • At temperatures below 5°C, use Fasto AP49 Activator to accelerate curing (may reduce final strength by up to 30%).
  • Not recommended for pure oxygen or chlorine systems.
  • Not suitable for certain plastics due to potential stress cracking.
