Fasto SA 26 – High Impact Structural Adhesive for Rigid Metal Bonding

Fasto SA 26 is a high-viscosity, anaerobic structural adhesive based on polyurethane-modified acrylate chemistry, designed for bonding rigid components where high impact strength and durability are essential. The adhesive cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, forming a tough, flexible, and solvent-resistant bond.

Fasto SA 26 is widely used in high-strength metal bonding applications, including bonding of magnets in DC motors, where resistance to vibration, heat, and chemicals is critical.

Surface Preparation

  • Ensure bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, dust, and contaminants.
  • Proper surface cleanliness is critical for achieving maximum strength and consistent curing.

Application Method

  1. Apply Fasto SA 26 to one or both bonding surfaces.
  2. Assemble parts immediately to exclude air from the bond line.
  3. Maintain alignment until the adhesive reaches initial solid strength.
  4. Wipe off excess adhesive from the outside of the joint.

Curing Guidelines

  • Initial solid time: ~5 minutes @ 25°C
  • Full strength: 24 hours @ 25°C
  • Maximum recommended gap: 0.5 mm

Additional Notes

  • Not recommended for pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems.
  • Should not be used as a sealant for chlorine or strong oxidizing materials.
