Fasto A122 – Low Strength Threadlocker for Small & Serviceable Fasteners

Fasto A122 is a low-strength, thixotropic anaerobic threadlocker specially formulated to prevent vibration loosening of threaded components while allowing easy and frequent disassembly. It cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal threads, forming a secure yet removable bond.

Designed primarily for small threaded fasteners (<6 mm Ø) and soft non-ferrous metals, Fasto A122 delivers excellent vibration and shock resistance without the risk of fastener damage during removal.

Key Features

  • Low Strength – Easy Disassembly
Breakaway torque: 13 Nm | Prevailing torque: 9 Nm.
  • Anaerobic Cure Technology
Controlled curing only inside metal threads.
  • Thixotropic (Non-Drip) Formulation
Prevents run-off on vertical or overhead assemblies.
  • Fast Fixture Time
    4–10 minutes at room temperature.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range
    -50°C to +150°C (continuous).
  • Excellent Chemical & Solvent Resistance
Resistant to motor oil, petrol, brake fluid, acetone, alcohols, and water.
  • Purple Colour
Easy visual identification of low-strength grade.

Benefits

  • Prevents vibration-induced loosening
  • Allows tool-free or low-torque disassembly
  • Ideal for small screws, set screws, and fine threads
  • Protects soft metals from thread stripping
  • Reduces maintenance time and fastener damage

Surface Preparation

  • Ensure threads are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and contaminants.
  • Cleaning improves cure speed and bond reliability.

Application Method

  1. Apply Fasto A122 to all engaged threads.
  2. Assemble the fastener and tighten as required.
  3. Allow curing under anaerobic (air-excluded) conditions.
  4. Wipe off excess adhesive from outside the joint.

Curing Guidelines

  • Fixture time: 4–10 minutes
  • Full cure: 24 hours
  • Maximum recommended gap: 0.25 mm

Additional Notes

  • Cure speed depends on temperature, bond gap, and substrate type.
  • On inert metals (stainless steel, aluminium) or at temperatures below 5°C, use Fasto AP49 Activator to accelerate curing (may reduce final strength by up to 30%).
  • Not recommended for certain plastics due to possible stress cracking.
