Fasto A170 – Maximum Strength Threadlocking for Heavy-Duty Assemblies

Fasto A170 is a single-component, high-strength (permanent) anaerobic threadlocking compound formulated to lock metal fasteners and prevent vibration loosening and leakage through threads. It cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, delivering maximum locking strength for critical industrial and automotive applications.

Designed for medium to coarse threaded fasteners, Fasto A170 is particularly suitable for large bolts, studs, and foundation fasteners where permanent retention and reliability are required.

Key Features

  • Permanent High Strength Threadlocking
Breakaway torque up to 29 Nm and prevailing torque up to 33 Nm (M10 steel fasteners).
  • Anaerobic Cure Technology
Controlled curing only within metal threads—no surface curing.
  • Fast Fixture Time
Achieves handling strength in approximately 15 minutes.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range
    -50°C to +150°C (continuous).
  • Good Gap Filling Capability
    Effective up to 0.20 mm.
  • Excellent Chemical & Solvent Resistance
Resists oils, fuels, brake fluid, alcohols, water, and common solvents.
  • Corrosion Protection
Prevents rust and fretting on assembled fasteners.
  • Green Colour
Easy visual identification during application and inspection.

  • Surface Preparation
Ensure all mating surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, oil, or other contaminants. Proper surface cleanliness is essential to achieve optimum bonding and curing performance.

  • Application
Apply the adhesive evenly to the engaged or bonding area as required. For threaded applications, apply the product to the male threads, ensuring adequate coverage without excessive overflow.

  • Assembly
Assemble the parts immediately after application. Tighten or position components as per the required specification. Excess adhesive, if any, should be wiped off from the external joint area.

  • Curing
Allow the assembly to remain undisturbed until sufficient handling strength is achieved. Full cure is attained after the recommended curing time under ambient conditions.

    • Lower temperatures may slow the curing process

    • Heating the assembly can accelerate curing if required

  • Post-Assembly (If Applicable)
Certain low-viscosity grades may be applied after assembly to wick into pre-assembled joints. Refer to the product-specific TDS for suitability.

  • Activator Usage (Optional)
For low temperatures, inactive substrates, or large gaps, a suitable Fasto Activator may be used to accelerate curing.
Note: Use of activator may slightly reduce final bond strength.

  • Handling & Storage
Store the product in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, within the recommended temperature range. Ensure containers are properly closed when not in use.
