Fasto A190 – Post-Assembly Wicking Threadlocker for Pre-Assembled Fasteners

Fasto A190 is a single-component, very low viscosity anaerobic threadlocking compound specially formulated with wicking capability. It is designed to penetrate and lock pre-assembled threaded fasteners where disassembly is not possible or where threadlocker could not be applied during assembly.

The adhesive cures in the absence of air when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces, delivering reliable locking, sealing, and corrosion protection.

Key Features

  • Very Low Viscosity (≈10 cPs)
Excellent capillary action for wicking into assembled threads.
  • Post-Assembly Application
Ideal for already-assembled nuts, bolts, and screws.
  • Medium Strength Threadlocking
Breakaway and prevailing torque up to 16 Nm (M10 steel fasteners).
  • Fast Fixture Time
Handling strength achieved within 3–10 minutes.
  • Excellent Temperature Resistance
Continuous service from -50°C to +175°C.
  • Good Chemical & Solvent Resistance
Resists oils, fuels, brake fluid, water, alcohols, and solvents.
  • Dual Functionality
Also suitable as a porosity sealant and for hairline cracks in cast components (pressure resistance up to 50 kg/cm²).

Benefits

  • Locks fasteners without disassembly
  • Prevents vibration-induced loosening
  • Seals threads against leakage and corrosion
  • Ideal for large assemblies with multiple fasteners
  • Enhances service reliability of assembled equipment

Surface Preparation

  • Ensure parts are clean, dry, and free from grease or oil.
  • Cleaning is critical to ensure effective wicking and curing.

Application Method

  1. Apply Fasto A190 to the engaged thread area.
  2. Allow the adhesive to wick into the threads by capillary action.
  3. Leave the assembly undisturbed while curing occurs.
  4. Wipe off excess adhesive from outside the joint if required.

Curing Guidelines

  • Fixture time: 3–10 minutes
  • Full cure: 12 hours
  • Maximum recommended gap: 0.15 mm

Additional Notes

  • Cure speed depends on temperature, substrate type, and bond gap.
  • On inert metals (stainless steel, aluminium) or at temperatures below 5°C, use Fasto AP49 Activator to accelerate curing (note: activator may reduce final strength by up to 30%).
  • Not recommended for certain plastics due to possible stress cracking.
